Woodworking has been one of the great adventures of my life. I started my first woodworking business in 1976 in a garage behind a rented house in Waite Park, Minnesota. The garage, narrow but longer than a typical garage, was a half century old with bare stud walls when I decided it would make a great shop. Young, poor and inspired I scrounged all the materials for insulating and finishing the inside of the garage. One of my great finds was a virtually unlimited supply of used aluminum printing sheets from a local printing company. I lined the shop with those sheets and found that I had created what is by far the noisiest shop I've ever worked in. Operating power tools inside a tin can is pretty miserable, but I had a wood stove for heat (very important in Minnesota), a lot of naivete', and a desire to be my own master, so with great anticipation I took the first steps on the long and winding road that has
brought me here.
